Q. Do I have to participate in all the activities on the retreat?

A. There is a wonderful schedule of activities (daily yoga classes, workshops, excursions, and more) we encourage to attend all Yoga classes and you are welcome to do as much or as little as you like!  We honor whatever level of participation our attendees choose to take part in.

Q. What is not included in the cost of the yoga retreats?

  1. A. Unless otherwise stated transportation is not included (Flights, taxis, trains, etc to retreat destination).

  2. On most  retreats all or some or all meals are included in the cost of the retreat - please check retreat info for details.

Q. What style of Yoga will be taught at the retreat?

A. The style of Hatha yoga taught is a fusion of Vinyasa (Flow), Iyengar, Forrest Yoga, and some elements of Ashtanga, and daily classes are tailored based on the needs individual students and of the group. Also, since each class always has two teachers at once you will have one-on-one attention from a experienced teacher -bringing you into and out of the poses based on your level and body type.

Q. I am new to Yoga, is this retreat for me?

A. Yes!  This will be a great opportunity to learn about yoga, whether you are new to it, or more experienced.  In our retreats we always have students of ALL levels- from complete beginners to the more advanced. Regardless of what level you're at, the class always has a feeling of being tailored for you, as there will always be 2 teachers in every class!

  1. Q.What is Forrest Yoga?

A. Developed by Ana Forrest, this is a form of yoga specifically created for the Western body—that is, the tight necks, shoulders and hips we get from sitting in chairs, hunching over computers and cradling the phone all day. “In traditional yoga, you tend to look up at the ceiling, which puts more stress on the neck,” says Ana Forrest. For example, in poses like triangle—which traditionally requires the neck to twist up to the sky while the rest of the body faces the opposite direction—the head hangs toward the floor.

What to expect: Forrest yoga may be designed for a western lifestyle, but it’s not a walk in the park. You’ll focus on foot stability and poses like dolphin (a more difficult downward dog with forearms flat on the floor), which help develop a strong core (another weak spot for most of us).

Good for practically everyone. In fact, Ana Forrest says many practitioners of Forrest yoga are actually esteemed Yoga teachers or students who come to Forrest yoga looking to heal injuries from other types of yoga.

  1. Q.Are all instructors, massage therapists & physicians certified?

A. Yes, all Yoga instructors, physicians and massage practitioners and body workers are highly trained and certified and have studied with the top schools or teachers in their fields. Click Here to read Bios

Q. For the shared accommodation retreats, who will I be sharing a room with?

A. You will be sharing a room with one (usually) or more people of the same gender. Our retreats take place in a fun and supportive social environment. Most attendees who come on the retreats travel there alone. From past retreat experience we have seen that attendees end up highly enjoying the experience of sharing with another person over being alone. If you are coming with a friend then that's who you will share the room with, and couples will be placed in a room of their own. (There is usually an option to purchase private accommodations, please let us know in advance if this is needed).

Q. Will there be much free time?

A. In addition to our wonderful daily schedule on the yoga retreat, there will be plenty of free time each day to take personal time, get a massage, explore the surroundings, meet up with new friends and attendees  and locals, try out various local restaurants, etc.

Q. I am a vegetarian, will I have vegetarian options?

A. Yes. All included meals will be vegetarian or will have vegetarian options available.

  1. Q. I have food related preferences and/or allergies, gluten free, what are my options?

  2. A. Not a problem! Caitlin and I do as well. Please let us know if you have any food allergies so we may accommodate you! Click Here to Contact Us.

Q. Will internet and telephone calls be available?

A. Yes. We try to make sure there is internet at all retreat locations and or an internet cafe nearby. Phone calls are usually made via the retreat center or via Skype. We usually include a communal laptop for this convenience.

TRAVEL

  1. Q.Where should I fly into?

We recommend trying www.kayak.com for tickets.

  1. A.For the Barcelona Retreats, the closest airport to Barcelona city center is the Barcelona International Airport, and is about a 20 minute taxi or train ride to the city center.  Alternately, you may arrive into either the Girona or Reus Airports, which are each located about an hour outside of the city center.

  2. B.For the Sabina Italy Retreat, the closest airport is Rome.  From there the easiest and cheapest way to get to In Sabina is by a short and scenic train trip (we will send you detailed information on getting to In Sabina when you register).

  3. C.For the Santorini, Greece Retreat:  Santorini can be reached from most international airports via Athens, which is served by the Athens International Airport. Tickets are sometimes cheaper if you book separate Round Trip tickets to/from Athens and then buy a a round trip ticket from Athens to/from Santorini.

  4. D.For the Hawaii - Kalani Retreat: For detailed airport and flight options, directions and driving instructions - CLICK HERE!

Q. When should I arrive?

  1. A.You should plan to arrive sometime in the afternoon on the start date of the retreat, as our retreats always begin with an opening dinner on that day.  The opening dinner/orientation is mandatory. (For the Italy retreat, you may check in any time after 2pm)

TRAVEL INSURANCE

We highly recommend travel insurance for your journey to Greece. There are many travel insurance companies, we recommend STA Travel www.statravel.com and AAA www.aaa.com for affordable worldwide travel insurance.
